OS/400 Upgrades
Each release of i5/OS and OS/400 software has a finite support period. The End of Support date for each software release, after which releases are available only for a limited time, is announced either with the initial release announcement or twelve months before it becomes effective. The Essextec Specialist will:- Verify the inventory of OS400 software CDs received
- Verify that the necessary publications are received
- Print required system documentation, such as reply lists, subsystem descriptions, etc.
- Verify that sufficient disk capacity is available to install the upgrade
- Verify that current PTFs are permanently applied
- Verify that all release upgrade prerequisites are available or applied
- Verify that the customer has an adequate backup strategy
- Install the V5R1 Operating System and LPPs (licensed program products)
- Verify that OS/400 and LPPs are installed correctly
- Load and apply Group PTF and the latest Comm package
- Restore changes to IBM-supplied objects such as reply lists, system values, subsystems, etc.
