The path forward for RPG!
RPG Open Access, IBM and looksoftware: The path forward for RPG!
There has been much excitement over the Rational Open Access: RPG Edition announced from IBM. However, the key question being asked by many developers is how this announcement impacts those with extensive investments in existing RPG code. Also, what is the impact on those applications where the RPG source code is not available?
looksoftware's support for the Rational Open Access: RPG Edition, is a Multi-Channel handler product which enables RPG Open Access and 5250 applications to be integrated seamlessly, providing a genuine path forward in RPG with no re-write requirement.
looksoftware's handler support includes:
- Multi-channel interfaces from a single handler - RIA (Rich Internet Application), mobile, rich client, web services, and more, i.e., iPhone, BlackBerry, iPad, Android, amongst other devices
- A platform to run Open Access, and 5250 in the same session
- Support for web services - your RPG Open Access code can be automatically service enabled
- The ability to Open Access-enable your existing source code, as well as develop new functionality in Open Access
