Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (iASPs)

Essextec provides consulting and implementation services for IASPs for V5R2. With a client’s active participation, we strategize and design the proper IASP Services for the given environment and then perform the installation. An independent disk pool, once set up, appears as another database under the Databases function of iSeries Navigator. Such disk pools (IASPs) provide the ability to group together storage that can be taken off line or brought on line independent of system or other unrelated data. An independent disk pool can be either:

• Privately connected to a single system (also known as a stand-alone or primary IASP)
• Switched among multiple systems or partitions in a clustered environment
